Prophet Equity Announces Acquisitions in the Public Safety Industry and Welcomes New Hires
Southlake, TX - - November 19, 2009 – Prophet Equity LP, a private equity firm that makes control investments in strategically strong, asset-intensive, underperforming companies in the lower and middle market, formally announced today that has acquired a controlling stake in Chief Public Safety Equipment Company and Law Enforcement Supply (“Chief/LES”). Located in Charlotte, North Carolina, Chief/LES distributes mission critical products to police, fire, and EMS departments nationally. Chief/LES was carved out of Brooks Equipment Company, and Jeff Tousa will continue to serve as President of Chief/LES.

Separately, Prophet Equity also announced the addition of John Tatum to its team. John Tatum joins Prophet Equity as a Vice President from H.I.G. Capital, where he was responsible for responsible for all aspects of the investment process including sourcing and analyzing new investment opportunities, leading seller and lender negotiations, closing portfolio company investments, and overseeing the implementation of post-transaction operational initiatives. Prior to H.I.G., John worked in private equity at Charterhouse Group and was a member of Citigroup’s Technology and Services Investment Banking Group. John received his MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and graduated with a BA in economics and political science from Williams College.
